Documents from the Remembering Biafra conference
In April 2017, George Washington University’s Institute for African Studies hosted an international conference on the Nigeria-Biafra war, featuring scholars, activists, literary writers, and others. Author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie was the keynote speaker, discussing her own writing about Biafra in Half of a Yellow Sun. The other conference speakers addressed issues ranging from the role of women in the war to the politics of humanitarianism. Here we will we feature interactive versions of some of their lectures, forthcoming in fall 2018.
